A fountain working with muscular energy
Designed for the exhibition Watergame at Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, Aix- en-Provence, Topique-eau vive is a reinterpretation of the fountain, a typology of object especially remarkable in this city. Unlike fountains that are connected to the water network, this installation uses muscular energy to function.
Topique-eau vive consists of a basin filled with wa- ter and colored particles, connected to five hand pumps. Once activated, each pump blows air into the water, thereby forming a material displacement in the surface of the basin. Depending on the number and location of people using the device, the movement of the water is more or less intense. This installation aims to highlight the use of muscle energy as an inexhaustible and free resource.
